What is "Purple, The Dragon" all about?
In the quaint little town of Nogard, surrounded by vibrant majestic mountains and crystal blue lakes, lives a young dragon named Purple. He is a very special dragon, you see; Purple can't hide his emotions because Purple is the only colour-changing dragon in Nogard. Purple encounters many fun and challenging situations where he needs to learn about his emotions, and how, with the help of his friends learns to cope, understand and accept his emotions and how to control them.
Written by Sharon Chan, a Canadian-Costa Rican mother who has suffered from Depression and Anxiety due to CPTSD as a story for her son about how to build a healthy relationship with emotions, especially the less comfortable ones. Even as adults, there are emotions we find difficult to cope with, and she believes educating children on how to regulate their emotions is the start of this journey.
Purple, The Dragon is focused on spreading worldwide awareness of mental health and the teaching of acceptance of emotions for both adults and children alike. The story has been developed into a book series and is in the pre-production stages of an animated series.
